Hi I am trying to compile my marlin code so I can upload it to my printer and I keep getting an error. The error I am getting is that it says that the 'DIGIPOT_MOTOR_CURRENT' was not declared in this scope. This is in the Stepper.cpp tab of marlin void Stepper::digipot_init() { #if HAS_DIGIPOTSS static const uint8_t digipot_motor_current[] = DIGIPOT_MOTOR_CURRENT; SPI.beginby tanner331 - Firmware - Marlin
I am looking to build my second 3d printer and I was looking to compare Cartesian xy head vs Cartesian xz head printers. I am wondering what are the pros and cons of each design? I am looking to build a printer with a direct extruder, my current printer uses a bowden setup and I am looking for a machine that can print flexible filament. I am also looking for a printer with a 200mm square build aby tanner331 - Reprappers
Hi I have a smoothieboard 5x and I installed a reprap discount GLCD, and the encoder is not working on it. The button on the encoder works but not the encoder itself, when you turn it nothing happens. I was wondering what I can do to troubleshoot this? I have the 5v regulator on the LCD adaptor board. The board is powered by a both a 12v power supply and a 5v power supply as described in the setuby tanner331 - Smoothie

Hi I am having an issue with my 3d printer. When the printer is set to 200ºC the printer seemed too cold, and when I checked the temperature with a temperature gun the nozzle temperature read 160ºC. When I set the printer to 240ºC the printer prints well and the nozzle temperature becomes 205ºC. I thought it was the thermistor so I replaced it and the problem is still there. Ok. The only reason I as asking is that it used to read perfectly, and about a month ago it started having print fails due to temperature. While troubleshooting it I found that the temperature was not hot enough, and adjusted print temperatures accordingly. Should I be concerned with this change, or is it something normal? Thanks Tannerby tanner331 - Smoothie
Hi I don't think 3d printer is showing the correct hotend temperature. When I try to print PLA at 200ºC it seems too cold and the filament skips on the extruder. I have a temperature gun and it reads 160ºC at the nozzle when the hotend is set to 200ºC. When I set the temperature to 240ºC the prints come out well and the temp gun reads 205ºC. Hi I am working on a 3d printer design and I was wondering if lead screw or ball screw would be better for my project? I am wondering which is more accurate? Are there any other advantages to one over the other? I was looking to use it for the z axis of a core xy design. What would be a good pitch to use? Thanks Tannerby tanner331 - Reprappers
I increased the layer height from 0.2 to 0.4 and the print worked. I am going to try to tune the first layer so I can use the lower layer height but the printer works.by tanner331 - Delta Machines
The bed is leveled about as perfectly as it can get. Upon further inspection what I think is happening is that the first layer is too thick causing the second layer to run into the previous layer. On small prints the previous layer is hot still enough to be fluid enough to not cause issues, but on larger print the first layer completely sets causing the steppers to skip.by tanner331 - Delta Machines
Hi I have a reprap rostock and I am having an issue with the print head skipping either in the x or y axis, usually parallel to the long side of a print. I was wondering could cause this and how should I troubleshoot this problem? This only occurs on prints with large bases. I have attached pictures of what the failed prints look like. Hi I am looking to design a 3d printer and I was wondering how much torque is required from each motor? The style of printer I was planing on building is similar to a Prusa i3. Mainly I was wondering how small of a stepper can I use for the two z axis motors? Thanks Tannerby tanner331 - Reprappers
Hi I have a reprap 3d printer and I am looking for a good cad software to use for making parts. I have been using a student version of autodesk inventor but I will be graduating soon and will no longer have that as an option. Hi I am looking to connect my printer to octoprint using a raspberry pi and I had a couple of questions? First one is will octoprint work with a smoothieboard, that is what I am using to run my printer? My next question is which raspberry pi should I use, pi model B, B+, A+, or pi 2 B? Hi I have a reprap rostock with a smoothieboard. It runs off of my computer not an lcd. My computer is a 4GB macbook pro. I am having issues with it slowing down on longer prints. Sometimes it slows down at 3 hrs or it might take until 8 hrs in to slow down. When it slows down it continues to slow until it comes almost to a stop and starts glitching. Ok I have the probe plugged in and it is working. I now have a problem that when the probe goes down it misses the glass in the aft and right point. I tried that setting on the printer and it still skips like it is either over or under powered, would it be that the voltage provided is not 12 volt required by the stepper motor, most motors used are 3V motors. Hi I have built a reprap rostock 3d printer and it is working perfectly except for the print plate size is off, it appears that that somewhere in the program the print size must be limited square with 5.5 inch sides, 140mm.
