I need to change one or the other the usb 5V seems like the best option right now instead of the second one so I can still use other serial port chips and not accidently tie the 5V together doing it the way you designed it eliminates the posibillity of using the extension header on a 1.4.1 board for lcd/sd while some might say you won't need the usb thing if your using sd/lcd sometimes it's goodby terramir - Next Wave Electronics Working Group
I can print them no problem I'd say hmmm 10 bucks plus shipping (first class will be like 2.50) priority like 6 bucks let me know terramirby terramir - Plastic RepRap Parts for Sale
Now the extension headers in 1.4.1 is being used by the usb-b module, but what if you want to use this extension header for something else, like for example a lcd and sd card reader? now you could make a board in-between that breaks out the lcd and serial stuff or you could wire a connector to the USB-B board that connects it to the serial header. Just one catch the usb-b is powered by the electrby terramir - Next Wave Electronics Working Group
well I got a 664p to work as far as that goes. I flashed it with the 00.23 arduino but with the 1284 all I see is no dice at this moment. also strange I got it flashed with my cp2032 chip but I somehow could not get it to work with the ftdi chip I use for my prusa I dunno what the problem with that is I'll have to check it out further as I move along. Also I'll have to order some 1284p chips andby terramir - Next Wave Electronics Working Group
turns out that the blue power led is switching on because the psu turns on, because of something :s however unless I fraked up my modifications I can't figure out what the problem is because I looked at the pins.h and well it's on pin 15 and the power supply turns on after 3 seconds and it only does it when the chip is inserted I took high res photos of the board and as of right now I have not foby terramir - Next Wave Electronics Working Group
one thing I found out just now it's actually the firmware turning the psu on right off the bat, maybe this is causing the flash programming to go haywire About three to four seconds after the red light comes on standby the blue (power) comes on. Maybe I got a pin.h issue or something I gotta go over the configuration becuase the older version of marlin with a 1.3.1 board didn't do this terramirby terramir - Next Wave Electronics Working Group
Thanks nophead for the info, But what about the other led I read both my and the other schematic and from what I see that's connected to the 5V not the 5V vsb that should not light up unless you give an M80 command, the whole reason for asking this is because the whole board is fubar. I could parallel program the fuses and the boot loader but had to put it in a different board to program marlinby terramir - Next Wave Electronics Working Group
Ok the following even though 5V is not attached (power supply isn't either) when I connect the pcb to my usb serial convertor it lights up the standby led and if I connect an atx power supply even though the atx jumper is the one jumpered the power led lights up and that shouldn't do this unless the psu turns on. made some changes to the board but that was only to save a few resistors and jumperby terramir - Next Wave Electronics Working Group
think I tracked down an issue. will post a separate post on this though since I got the firmware uploaded with a different board.by terramir - Next Wave Electronics Working Group
gen7 1.3.1 has enough pad width that you could drill holes are a 5mm distance in order to put a screw terminal and replace the header in question. Also look into upgrading ( cutting traces and adding wires in order to have the thermistors be powered my 5V vsb :p terramirby terramir - Next Wave Electronics Working Group
traumflug anyway to make a bootloader for the 1284? I dunno seems like there fairly the same chip Correct me if I'm wrong there terramirby terramir - Next Wave Electronics Working Group
I think there is someway to burn both the bootloader set the fuses and load the firmware all in one swoop with an arduino mega2560. If any of you could link me detailed instructions I would be greatful it might help my problems and well I could make a shield for that and etch is for future use . terramirby terramir - Next Wave Electronics Working Group
well then I'm try the 1.04 version of arduino later and see if that will get it going but honestly I dun have a clue yet terramirby terramir - Next Wave Electronics Working Group
I seem to have another problem I just verified that it wasn't a problem with my board using a 664P worked fine but only with the 0.23 arduino ide. I tried flashing the 1284 with the 1284p firmware from with-in 0.23p and the compliler puked all over the place But flashing even the 664p from 1.0.1 is not happening I got a 20 mhz crystal and well I dunno what to do if 1.0.1 gets stuck 1.0.4 20 mhzby terramir - Next Wave Electronics Working Group
even tried it with a real ftdi chip instead of the cheap crappy serial connection no dice going wrong somewhere terramirby terramir - Next Wave Electronics Working Group
got the bootloader loaded, but then I got some odd behavior the program (marlin won't load it's hangs around forever and then gives me a timeout error. don't exactly know what is going on if I knew I would be up and running with my second board. I just ran it again I think I'm programming the fuses wrong or when I load the bootload the fuses get changed to something the 1284 can't hack or somethby terramir - Next Wave Electronics Working Group
I accidently ordered a 1284 instead of an 1284P is there anyway to modify the support files inorder to make it work I got the 1284P bootloader loaded with a parallel port just by changing the id in the avrdude configuration but what else do I have to change and will it actually work? terramirby terramir - Next Wave Electronics Working Group
Anyway to make an SPI 4x40 display work in marlin I know I can make an sd card adapter work if I keep the cables short (have a micro sd one from reprapdiscount I could utilize. But I would need an lcd to make it work. Because I would like to make it work with marlin anyone know if that is feasible the lcd shield you folks discussed in this thread? terramirby terramir - Next Wave Electronics Working Group

Okies almost got my second gen7 board finished a 1.4.1 board (although I did some little mods on the circuit one resistor instead of 4 for the step jumpers and the jumpers are actually smd pads where you solder "solder bridges: instead of using physical jumpers figure I save myself some hole drilling there But now I am confused, about several things But first things first, according to the manuby terramir - Next Wave Electronics Working Group

Gbrl I wonder if there is a version that is close to what we use on a reprap, but honestly I'm just thinking if I can get away with a 328P that would be great because I have it, but a 644p or a 1284p would be fine too. anyways folks any more advice will be appriciated I want to explore several avenues to determine which is best for this project terramirby terramir - Firmware - experimental, borrowed, and future
marlin and sprinter are so huge so this would mean the 328 is out (well if I remove some stuff for the Z, E maybe but that would be out of my league really) was really thinking I would like to chage an existing firmware to drive a laser cutter in a very basic from load gcode drive it down x and Y while turning laser on or off depending on where your printing or not. I will probably need some coby terramir - Firmware - experimental, borrowed, and future
was also thinking teacup might be the best because it has a small footprint the question is can laser on of and x and y be accomplished easy there would be no Z on my project in particular terramirby terramir - Firmware - experimental, borrowed, and future
which one of the existing firmwares would be easiest to convert so it could drive a laser cutter. Assuming there is no Z to keep it simple it will only need to control x and y and laser on of and well adjust the lasers current i.e. (feedrate or temp) just wondering I would like to keep it as simple as possible does any of the developers here have an idea which firmware would be suitable to do thiby terramir - Firmware - experimental, borrowed, and future
