I believe it's a machine that performs both operations on the same model. i.e. prints a layer and mills it, or prints a model and mills it. I have seen a youtube video for a mill that does this which is prior to 2012, and people have been retrofitting their cnc mills with 3d printer heads for years. I therefore would assume this patent has no legs and could be easily contested. I do admit thatby yydoctt - General
What tolerance is there on the angle of the brackets, I'd guess 1-2 degrees? Does that cause issues with alignment seeing as they are so rigidly defined? Also on this site we tend to know how much things cost and also appreciate people require profit as a motivation, however, 1300EUR is more than a bit steep.. Also - A laser cut acrylic extruder!! Actually I didn't think it was ever fake, just renders of something that wasn't finished. I ultimately thought it would never see the light of day or be an extreme disappointment. Now, it seems real, the transitions seem to be short and they seem to be going very closed source. I'm wondering if it is actually true mixing (doubtful) or simply filament changing (does a good/average job). Time willby yydoctt - Developers
I think plexer is right, you need multiple STL's that get combined. Then in Slic3r you can choose an extruder per model. The caveat, I presume, is that the two STL's must share the same coordinate system, how you achieve this I don't know! You can do this in parametric CAD programs like Solidworks (multiple bodies), but I would assume not Sketchup. Getting them to share the same coordinate systeby yydoctt - General

It doesn't look like you have a USP, there are several very similar designs out there. Kossel comes to mind which is currently on kickstarter. Perhaps you could explain where your machine differentiates itself as it will likely get little funding if it can't stand out from the crowd of 3d printers, past and present. Also spectra wire doesn't increase accuracy, and with line walking will probablby yydoctt - Reprappers

Try kisslicer, it's better. Or you could scale the print and scale your steps/mm in marlin accordingly. Not sure how you're calculating cement flow but that'd also need scaling. So try kisslicer, I think it might be up to the task.by yydoctt - General
The forum and Wiki can be a muddled, confusing and often contradictory source of information. Some of the most active developers are on IRC. Server: Freenode Channel: #RepRap In terms of electronics you can speak to Kliment (and many others) In terms of firmware again you can talk to Kliment, EvdZ and bkubicekby yydoctt - Developers

You should perhaps check your extrusion steps or print temperature though, you may well be over extruding or printing too hot or not adequately cooling (printing too fast or features that are small?). You shouldn't really get curling across 100mm.by yydoctt - General
As highlighted use the z lift, it lifts the head between travel moves to avoid oozing across perimeters. It should solve your problem as long as it only happens on travel moves.by yydoctt - General
Are you sure you need 3 Z motors? The bed should be fairly lightweight. Prusa Mendels use two Z motors driven in parallel (RAMPS - a popular electronic platform, has two headers for Z motors). Sells Mendel uses one Z motor to drive two leadscrews, coupled with a belt. I am assuming you don't need the power of three motors to lift your bed so you might consider linking your screws with belts, orby yydoctt - General
Print two, make sure a fan is directed to the hot end and you will be fine. ALWAYS have a spare, i.e if you swap extruder, print a new one. Mine did warp, but I didn't use a fan, it took the best part of a year to become unusable, luckily I had spares. So yes, PLA is fine, just be cautious.by yydoctt - General
Once you try Kisslicer you never go back (in my experience of course!). Cura/Skeinforge is good but somewhat overcomplicated and perhaps bloated. Slic3r is a never-ending stream of bugs - I found myself on github checking bugs too frequently.by yydoctt - General

The inertia of two Nema 17's being flung around would likely affect print quality and speed. It's worth pursuing but those light weight motors I linked are cheaper and lighter and probably adequate (no experience with them myself). I have dual bowden and am very thankful that I don't have to throw around an extra kilo of weight when making sharp turns.by yydoctt - General
And it is Misumi (or other 20x20 supplier), not openbeam. I think I saw an openbeam alternative on Thingiverse thoughby yydoctt - Extruded Aluminum Frames
Many of the problems with bowden have been reduced, Sublime with his tantillus is a nice example. Very little stringing. If you want direct drive a lot of people are using PG35L motors, which are very light and deliver adequate torque but may be more speed limited.by yydoctt - General

Hi guys, I'm looking into getting more involved with printing other materials. What all-metal hot ends have you guys used, seen, recommend? 1.75mm preferred. A brief search brings up: Arcol V4 - My concern is it's strength E3D - Looks good and is in the UK, but know very little about it Prusa's - Looks... Long.. There was quite a debate some time ago over the design. I have seen a couple of otby yydoctt - General
This thread runs the risk of being bloated with inaccurate recordings, acceleration should be given alongside speeds. I remember when the Ord bot users were first testing their bots on buildlog.net, thinking their machines were going at 1m/s because that's the value they gave slic3r!by yydoctt - General
