Quotedeckingman I think that if you buy machined tooling plate, it'll be guaranteed flat to the type of tolerance we need but check with the supplier. Here in the UK we can buy ECOCast aluminium tooling plate which is precision machined both sides. There are a few different dimensions specified for this type of plate. A quick glance will show you the thickness tolerance, which is the thickness oby Chorca - Reprappers
I have to add to this by saying that I picked up a 24x24" sheet of MIC-6, but reading their specs, they only specify flatness to 0.35mm at 1/4", and mine has a complex dip of about 0.25mm in it. In order to get .005" tolerance for flatness, you need to step up to 3/4" thick plate, which I don't think my machine could handle moving around. I'm wondering if anyone else has run into this and modifiby Chorca - Reprappers
This is happening in linux too, albeit when middle-clicking in the 3d view randomly. < crashdump It's existed for quite awhile too, so not sure what the bug might be..by Chorca - Repetier
Orlando's Hackerspace, FamiLAB, is a little 3d priting hub. We've got prolly 5 of them between us, and there's always new ones being built. We have a Printrbot, a few mendels.. etc. Come by and visit, we can show you some working machines and you can get a better idea of how they run! first tuesday of every month is open house, and if you'd like to come earlier, just hop in the chat or send an eby Chorca - Florida, Orlando RepRap User Group
I just basically bought all the parts I needed from McMaster Carr.. They have a distribution center in Atlanta, so all the parts come really fast, and they have EVERYTHING for either an SAE or metric mendel. I decided to go the metric route, as that seems to be more the standard in the RepRap universe, and it's working great.by Chorca - Florida, Orlando RepRap User Group
Just wanted to let everyone know that while this forum is quite slow, there are actually quite a few people interested in RepRapping in the Orlando area! FamiLAB (the Orlando-area hackerspace) has been growing quickly, and we now have 5 or so members with 3D printers, and just recently did a repair/tuning day, which turned out quite fruitful! We have a new member who also has a Thing-O-Matic kitby Chorca - Florida, Orlando RepRap User Group
It has! Currently at FamiLAB we have my RepRap Sells, two RepRap Prusas, a MakerBot, and a new member who just got a Thing-o-Matic kit and would like some help building it. We are actually having an open house tonight, and while I know it's short notice (and a bit of a drive to Altamonte) If you'd like to see something put together, the RepRap I have is mostly together, it's in the middle of anby Chorca - Florida, Orlando RepRap User Group
Cool, guys! We've been making good progress on the first Mendel here at FamiLAB in Orlando. We've got one almost done, steppers are mounted and the circuit boards are almost done. We're etching ourselves some Stepper Driver 3.2s and gonna use those along with the techzone electronics. If anyone is interested in checking out the Mendel or MakerBot we have there, let me know! make sure you have the cable hooked up properly, we had ours reversed and were getting odd messages. I don't know if they're burning the bootloaders or not, maybe someone else can give some insight onto that. We burned another bootloader on ours cause we assumed it wasn't on there, while in fact we just had the cable on upside-down. If the power light is kinda dim, it's prolly in backwards.by Chorca - Controllers
Wondering what the current status is on these boards. They seem to handle a good deal more current than the 2.3 model.. I'm thinking they're up on the RepRap SF site, but if they are, it seems they haven't been touched for about 5 months. Someone mentioned awhile ago that they were looking to come out with the latest versions in February.. but we're a few months past that now. Anyone using theby Chorca - Controllers
This looks cool! Does the cost include the RP parts, if not, how much would it be for the whole thing sans motor? Sent you a PM too!by Chorca - For Sale
On the build sheet, it shows two rods each for D1 an D2, yet the illustration below it only shows one D1 and one D2, both on the base there. I don't see where the other two are used. In any case, I made a photo showing how I distributed the studding across 7 rods, since I cut only 1 D1 and 1 D2. If I've messed these up badly let me know, and if anyone knows if there truly are two of each of theby Chorca - General Mendel Topics
So there's a few of us in the area.. Wondering who is still around here and actively using/building a RepRap or other type of machine.. and who thinks it might be a cool idea to meet up and talk about them? I know that one of the guys from FamiLab has a MakerBot and has been working on trying to print the components for a RepRap, and i'm trying to acquire the pieces from people online and such.by Chorca - Florida, Orlando RepRap User Group
That'd be hot. Both things, rather. Haven't been to FamiLab before, though looks cool! I wouldn't mind heading over there, I'll keep a slot open on my schedule. Shoot me an email if you want, we can meet up! ([email protected])by Chorca - Florida, Orlando RepRap User Group
I'm in Orlando, around Waterford Lakes area. Just started building a Mendel. I've got the frame vertices and I'm ordering a few more pieces from some people online who are milling them, but that's only about 1/3 of the parts! Going to need quite a few more to get this thing operational! I'm going to order all the hardware soon, and start assembling the frame. If anyone would like to talk about tby Chorca - Florida, Orlando RepRap User Group
Just wanted to say that I just got the extruder nozzle today, and the quality is great! The machining is very well done. Wiped it off with a paper towel and took these pics so everyone can see just what reifsnyderb is selling! These are of the 0.5mm nozzle. If people want pictures of the tip of the 0.3mm one I'll take more. Click on the pics to see bigger ones..by Chorca - For Sale
Well, I'm not sure if this is the right place, but I just kind of wanted to mention that I've started a bit of a build log of the Mendel I'm building. Going to get a good Google Docs spreadsheet going of where I get each piece from, and exactly how much it's cost, so someone can get a good idea of what it'll currently cost to assemble. I'm still working on getting a list of materials, and I hoby Chorca - General Mendel Topics
Looks like the list is locked right now, I can't seem to view it. I'd like to see some of the parts vendors you're going through; I'm starting a bit of the same thing right now.by Chorca - General Mendel Topics
I'd like to get two kits, one .5 and one .3mm if you still can, thanks!by Chorca - For Sale
