My nozzle, rev 2, works by using a 4x2 ptfe tube down into the nozzle about 5mm from the tip. The nozzle and tip are one part. The nozzle inside goes from 4mm to 2mm to 0.4. I made it this way after i tried the acorn nut way and it leaked. Heres someone with results from this method cooled down using a fan, [3d-printer-kit.com] , airtripper.com uses it without the fan and with a peek insulator.by progomez - General
I use a ptfe tube down through the peek into the nozzle tip. No leaks as its one part.by progomez - General
I have used r&p on x and y to make it simpler. Weights to me make more parts to adjust and supply. Unless theres a big benefit for using them. Also the z on a 3d printer only moves once a layer. No speed benefit.by progomez - General
If you are in the uk I can send you a spare hotend tip. This with an aluminum block and the peek break should work.by progomez - General
Why? Are the weights there just because you want to use rack and pinion on the z or for another reason? What made you move away from the usual drive screw arrangement?by progomez - General
Hi, is it working with the rack and pinion on the z. I have a prototyped one built but havent used r&p on the z. It would fall when the power was switched off.by progomez - General
Wouldn't you need a 1100 frame? Nopheads new design would probably work given its use of MDF. Although you would need at least 16mm rods.by progomez - General
There is a free plugin called pcb-gcode for eagle.by progomez - General
i would guess this to make quite a bit. probably 500000 at least.by progomez - General
id say let them make some money first on their innovation. Very similar to how i imagine the 199 reprap looking. good design though.by progomez - General
my point was shouldnt the brains of reprap builders already of taken what works from the huxley emaker and adapted it to make a reliable mendel, given this size wise is more desirable.by progomez - General
why not get a huxley emaker. then a reprap can build a reprap, unless you rename the group.by progomez - General
i use 12 tooth aluminium pulleys from beltingonline. I get them drilled and grub screwed but you can do this yourself easily.by progomez - General
Hi frontwheel, send me an email. Freedom of speech is ok on the SUMPOD forum. If I remember you correctly though you hadn't bought a SUMPOD but wanted to make a forum? Slightly odd I thought at the time. I am one and this is the reason for the downtime. Shouldn't be down again, hopefully. Maybe you could be a forum moderator at SUMPOD once you have built your machine. Anyway I am reachable anby progomez - General
> > Self replication is very useful maybe even > critical for keeping costs down hopefully, but > that's the main point IMO. That's the problem, for a long time self replication didn't have any effect on cost because the cost of peoples time kept the reprap expensive. My thought now is that it may be possible, given the clonedel process, to make a reprap easy to manufacture andby progomez - General
I dont know why you wouldnt be able to build one for less at the same quality. Its open source? JM seems to have standardised the hardware to control the software? Sprinter seems to have worked on the firmware. I suppose an UP! derived hot end like the emaker has and now the makerbot, seems to be the missing link in making the reprap usable out of the box. Why can these details not be appliedby progomez - General
Can you not build a mendel for less? Also now its open source would it not be better to adapt the hotend for use on a mendel? All would have to be done would be to change a few settings and redo the carriage? Good thogh that adrian is making money on his idea.by progomez - General
My point was should the goal of an open source 3d printer be the best and maybe cheapest 3d printer? I always thought that the hot end was always the most important part of a reprap. No point being able to replicate something that has a flaw. Reprap is as self replicating as many other machines that can make a few of their parts. So its not really self replicating. Although reprappers don't likeby progomez - General
some on cnczone self replicate. i personally think self replication is a hindrance sometimes as a good few build a reprap just to make money building repraps. Also regards cost, most still is in the other parts. regards your cnc if it were mdf then it could probably fix itself. The big question is whether the eventual home 3d printer in most homes look like a reprap, up or makerbot? Will theby progomez - General
Regards the SUMPOD it may not make itself but it can make a reprap any size and mill the electronics. Self replication wasn't more important than being solid and multifunctional. Also the point I was making was that ttylater was correct when he said self replication isn't new as confirmed by what you said above. I remember talking to you in Sheffield at the reprap meet. What would you say is a beby progomez - General
But wasnt the point that self replication is nothing new? In that case you have made the argument that this is correct in the second paragraph. How well it works is not the issue. Saying that I used a mdf cnc machine to build the sumpod prototype. It is quite possible to change some aspects on the original machine so that it could be quite a good 3d printer as well with a 500mm sq build area, aby progomez - General
TTYLater does have a point. A reprap is similar to a mdf cnc machine, as both can make some of their structural parts. Also both need similar off the shelf parts to be truly useful. ie. motors, linear motion parts and a form of head. I suppose what could be special is that the design hides this fact. Say Nopheads repstrap was made of mdf, havent seen it, then he could use this to make other reby progomez - General
i would send you one but wouldnt want you to suffer guilt pangs. sypher sent you pointers on the software. you said you had completed the build?by progomez - General
