You were correct - my endstops don't trip the "fuse" and get the power they need. I finally got them all working this morning when I discovered that pin 21 of the 644P wasn't connected to its pad. A touch of flux and a hot soldering iron fixed it up. I tried to take a picture, but I don't have good macro capability so it doesn't show the flaw well. I wrote an endstop test program that helped meby JED - For Sale
Thanks for the response. No, I have not yet connected my endstops - I was just reading the schematic BEFORE connecting, looking for potential problems. I had Gen7 electronics working with the endstops until my granddaughter's cat "marked" my machine while it was sitting on the floor waiting for its hot end. I have not been able to make the electronics reliable after that and will use the Azteeg aby JED - For Sale
Okay, I bought one from eBay. Now I have a question about optical endstops and think it would be interesting to anyone considering these with your Azteeg. First, I'd like to say that I very much like the design improvements over Sanguinololu. My favorites are: switching 5V regulator, xtal 16MHz instead of resonator, indicator lights for xmit and rcv on USB, indicator lights for mosfet output, juby JED - For Sale
A belated "thank you", joaz. I live in the USA and just got some pcbs from Ultimachine and built them using the Omron EE-SX498 and they are working great! Since the H21LOB is now hard to get, this is a work-alike that includes the hysteresis that makes the H21LOB special. I'm glad to have these tiny boards and I don't want any stinking RJ-45 connectors either. I didn't need a pull-up so I skippeby JED - Controllers
I found the Zapp spec sheet here SY42STH47-1684B.pdf It shows that BLK and GRN are one coil, and RED and BLU are the other. So hook one coil to 2B and 2A, and the other coil to 1A and 1B. If it doesn't work, just swap the wires of one of the coils (like RED and BLU). When you've gotten it to work, let us know the correct order and maybe update the wiki. Going about it another way, the Steppeby JED - Controllers
About a week ago, I asked myself the same question. What IS the difference? The spec sheets are almost exactly duplicates of one another BUT the functional block diagram for the 4988 shows two little boxes on the Gate Drive box labelled OCP where the attachment is to the final stage drive transistors. That led me to the table where its value is specified in a box that doesn't exist on the 4983'sby JED - Controllers
nophead is absolutely correct - the two current sense resistors should be balanced. I had not thought of that. Great explanation, btw. 1% and 1/4 watt 0.2 ohm 0805 for the S resistors. In looking at the other resistors, 10% is fine. R1 - sets limit for Ref voltage 10% is fine R2,R3 set default levels for Enable and Sleep 10% is fine R4 - sets signals timing choice - 10% is fine C4 is a "ceramiby JED - Controllers
- 14 years agoOops. The big spool of flat cable I have on the shelf at home turned out to be 6 wire (for RJ12) not 8 wire. I think I have 8 wire on the shelf at the office. I'll be there on Wednesday and get some then. One possible problem with this solution is signal noise. An Ethernet cable is tightly wound twisted pairs (the biggest difference between Cat-3, Cat-5, and Cat-6 is the tightness of the twist aby JED - Controllers
Yes, the 0.2 resistors 0805 is a 0.2 ohm SMD resistor in package size 0805. If you zoom in on the pictures in the wiki, you can see the two resistors above the 4988 are both labelled R200 and the silk screen next to them says S1X and S2X. R200 = 0.2 ohm. wiki StepStick That verifies it. These are the current sense resistors. Usually, current sense resistors are precision, but in this case the cby JED - Controllers
- 14 years agoI have flat wire like phone wire only wider and RJ45 connectors to go with it. It is stranded and bends well. I have LOTS of it left from the days when Ethernet cable was COAX. I'll send you a couple of cables to try, if you'll tell me the length and your address by Private Message. We can see if that fixes the problem. By the spelling of your name, I'm guessing you might be French? If so, it wiby JED - Controllers
