How accurate is that temperature? might be a loose or inaccurate thermistor.by Wired1 - General
Looks too cold and extruder too slow. I only print with PLA so ABS might be different but that is oozing out the extruder way too slow and is not hot enough to come out thin enough to span the gap. Check your filament dimension and double check the temperature of the hot end with a IR thermometer. If you post the STL you are using I'll video my machine doing it if it helps any.by Wired1 - General

How are the Viki LCD panels coming along Roy?by Wired1 - For Sale
That sounds more like it - If you put all 4 in parallel it has the equivalent of 2.2 ohms divided by 4 = 0.55 ohms and on 12 volts this will use 21.8 amps which is OK if you have a 30 amp power supply. It will produce 261 watts of heat on 12 volts and be quick about it but with only 4 resistors you may get hot-spots on your printer plate if it is too thin.by Wired1 - New Zealand RepRap User Group
Some updates showing the alloy plates I had water jet cut plus I have reprinted the carriage in yellow PLA. Now I'm just waiting for my Azteeg X3 to arrive then I can make it all go.by Wired1 - New Zealand RepRap User Group
This is the y-axis limit switch and would be triggered by the printer bed moving forward and as long as it gets tripped before the carriage drives into the frame it will all work out fine. Probably triggered by the egde of the glass so adjust the height until the glass hits it. You should still be able to communicate with the electronic controller even if the limit switches are wrong so you mightby Wired1 - General Mendel Topics
The business end of the j-head is rather pointy so I would imagine it would break the glass... I haven't adjusted my current printer since I built it either.by Wired1 - General Mendel Topics
I have also been working on this and have made a printed chassis that doesn't require an alloy sheet here: It takes a standard 8" x 8" heater panel mounted direct to it and is working well printing with PLA. As it was made from PLA I wonder how it would go with ABS however the edges of the heater panels are cooler than the rest of the pad so it might be OK. I have since gone back to a water jetby Wired1 - General Mendel Topics
Cheap, fast & high quality, pick any two...by Wired1 - New Zealand RepRap User Group
It's just a theory of courseby Wired1 - New Zealand RepRap User Group
The weight of the x-carriage with the heavy stepper motor on it makes changes in direction slower whereas the bowden tube carriage weighs bugger all by comparison. The mass you have to overcome puts more stress on the belts and pulleys as well so adds to backlash as the belts spring around. In theory you should be able to hoon around with the bowden setup at much higher speeds and turn out much qby Wired1 - New Zealand RepRap User Group
It is tough to price low enough to be competitive yet not still make a profit plus if you make too much profit you get slammed for that too. I think it is like a lot of things these days - it is hard to compete with cheap off-shore products and while everyone says they will pay more for quality most still buy on price at the end of the day. It is also a very small market so hard to do volume.by Wired1 - New Zealand RepRap User Group
This is my first attempt at the bowden tube type extruder and the attraction is getting the weight off the x-carriage and maybe increased printing speed and multiple head possibilities as a bonus. I may still design a standard carriage for it (or anyone else can for that matter) for a standard wade type extruder as a backup. It was more complicated than I was expecting and the jury is still out..by Wired1 - New Zealand RepRap User Group
I use them a lot and agree with Twitchy above, if you are careful with whom you deal with and what you buy it all goes very well. I have had a couple of sales not go right and in both cases they were rectified quickly and without any dramas. The Chinese made bearings, rods, motors etc that i have bought are very high quality and the equal of anything else I have used for several years now.by Wired1 - General
Will do, you'll be number 2 then I want to test run the x-carriage to see how it handles the temprature. I have been using an extruder I designed with a built-in j-head clamp and was printed in PLA without any problems so it should be fine. Worst case is I have to print this part in ABS but I'm not eager to do that. I also have a fan mount to go on here but I will wait until the yellow PLA turnsby Wired1 - New Zealand RepRap User Group
Finished the bowden tube setup tonight, ran out of yellow PLA so I will have to wait a couple of days before reprinting these parts in the right colour. Printable height is looking very promising at over 200mm ...by Wired1 - New Zealand RepRap User Group
Just when you thought it couldn't get any worse at Thingiverse... It looks like sponsored product placement is the new income stream, Nokia on Thingiverse. Can it get any worse?by Wired1 - General
There are a few guys here and around selling stuff and it seems that most are selling on Trademe so search for "reprap" and you will find all the usual suspects. There is some good value linear rod on there at the moment I noticed, cheaper than what I paid for mine from overseas and it would arrive quicker too. There is also Vik at Diamondage who is the guy to see for filament and some other parby Wired1 - New Zealand RepRap User Group

I have just released my second printer the OB1.4 with a 200mm x 200mm x 200mm build area. Up on various repositories now... OB1.4 on Thingiverse OB1.4 on GrabCad OB1.4 on Cubeheroby Wired1 - General
Me too, I'm just not sure how to go about doing it or how much of a kit to offer - do people want a full kit or just the plastics etc. There is one more mod I want to make first plus I need to finish the new x-carriage and bowden tube extruder setup then it will be all go But then I'm also waiting for the alloy printer decks to turn up from the Water Cutting Company in Wellington plus the LCD paby Wired1 - New Zealand RepRap User Group
So this afternoon I uploaded my new printer onto Thingiverse, GrabCad and Cubehero. OB1.4 on Thingiverse Thingiverse ironically is getting harder to use now with all the crap they plastered over the front page making it hard to find the upload button, plus you still need to upload each file one at a time. OB1.4 on Cubehero Cubehero was not as bad as I was expecting with alternatives offered ifby Wired1 - General

True and still no viable alternative coming out of any of them. Anyone got opinions/criticisms on Cubehero.com and GrabCad.com or any other new sites?by Wired1 - General
