I am the developer of the J-Head hot-end. If you want Reprap development to continue, support the companies that develop Reprap products. If you want to completely stop any serious Reprap development, keep buying chinese knock-offs.by reifsnyderb - General
Hello, I am the developer/originator of the Genuine J-Head hot-end. While sales are way down, the people who are buying real J-Head hot-ends are quite happy with them. I would like to both thank my customers as well as thank those who left reviews. I am posting the link, below, for those who are interested in reading the reviews. Best Regards, Brianby reifsnyderb - General
Keep buying the e3d knock-offs. This will drive e3d out of business and be the end of any more serious Reprap hot-end development. If the developers aren't supported, development stops.by reifsnyderb - General

That is not a jhead. This is a jhead ----> QuoteMrblank5 So recently I upgraded my prusa I3 with a jhead from anycubic, the problem is the thermistor is reading atemp of 357 even when it is turned off. I have tried to get the right settings in the Marlin firmware by changing the temp_sensor in the configuration.h file but none of the settings worked. Can any one help me solve this pby reifsnyderb - Reprappers
Hello, The problem was never people selling copies that followed the proper spec. Makerfarm, for example, sold me a perfect example of a Mk IV-B J-head. All of the dimensions were exact. I never complained a bit about that because they made true J-head hot-ends. The chinese knock-offs, however, use the name of "J-Head" and do not follow any known blueprint. If you compare them to the real tby reifsnyderb - RepRap magazine
Hello, The J-head name has been destroyed by the chinese knock-offs. Most chinese knock-offs are nothing like a real J-head. Here is a link to more information ---> Best Regards, Brianby reifsnyderb - General New Machines Topics
Is this a real J-Head hot-end or a chinese knock-off?by reifsnyderb - Prusa i3 and variants
Hello! The folgertech hotend is a chinese J-Head knock-off and has not been properly machined. If those PEEK threads are not right, the hot-end will fall apart. If you are going to buy an e3d, support e3d and buy from them. They did the research and development, they took the risks, they will use some of the money to do research and development for new hot-ends. If you would rather buy cheapby reifsnyderb - General
You bought a cheap knock-off "clone" and expect quality??? These so-called "J-Head Clones" are why the actual J-head reputation is trashed. A real J-head is a good, fast, light-weight, reliable hot-end. These so-called clones do nothing positive. Quality parts have a price. Buying cheap crap from china does not buy a quality part. The second e-bay link is a clone or counterfeit. Now, about that first e-bay link to the J-Head Mk V-BS. Please read the description of the first e-bay listing. That was done on purpose and by me. The description is clear that that hot-end is garbage. If somebody sorted by the lowest price, the idea was that they run across it. I only "sold" one and had to talk the buyer into a reby reifsnyderb - RepRap magazine
Quoteandrew.ngai wow, I didn't know that it is a completely different design just having the name on it. Where would you recommend I get myself a legitimate JHead? Check . Best Regards, Brianby reifsnyderb - General
As the inventor of J-Head hot-ends, I am going to tell you that these "knock-offs" are not really J-Heads. They just use the name to game the system and sell their junk. Here is a link to the wiki page with real J-Heads ---> Buying cheap knock-offs does not encourage the developers to develop new products or to even keep selling what they created. Hello, Normally, PLA is burned out with a torch if you can't clear it any other way. Also, for re-assembly, you need to remove that small tube that goes through the hollow set-screw in the top. (It should pull out with a small pointed pick of some sort. I use dental picks.) Then, the hollow set-screw can be used to adjust the ptfe liner tension. The small tube is then pushed back through thby reifsnyderb - Reprappers
Hello, I am the creator of the J-Head, yes. I designed it to use as few parts as possible and rapidly improved it. One year after the first version, the 5th version was out and it is very reliable and able to print both ABS and PLA. I have a pretty complete machine shop and setup different machines for a single purpose. For example, my Tormach PCNC-770 has a fixture on it to machine the brasby reifsnyderb - RepRap magazine
Hello, Why would I want to support the chinese by getting a new version machined in China????? Brian QuoteMechaBits Bad news indeed, the Black J-Head is the sexiest looking, small, printhead out there, I wanted one for my printer as the printers got a lot of black in it. (the HEX one is nice too, better in black)...but I wasn't sure how it compares to the offerings out there. E3D /Hex It's aby reifsnyderb - RepRap magazine
Hello, That is not a J-head. It is the old "Geared Extruder Nozzle". I don't know what you can replace it with. As far as J-Heads are concerned, only MakerFarm supplies a J-Head Mk IV-B made to the proper specifications of a J-Head. Almost all other J-Heads on the market are cheap chinese knock-offs that are not made to the proper specifications, have no support, and are of questionable qualby reifsnyderb - Plastic Extruder Working Group
Hello, Genuine J-Head hot-ends have worked fine with PLA for years, as well. However, china has taken over the J-Head market and produce poor quailty knock-offs. So, you have to shop around for the few vendors that still sell the real thing. Best Regards, Brianby reifsnyderb - General
Hello, I am the inventor of the J-Head hot-end. Makergeeks does not sell properly made J-Head hot-ends. In fact, most "J-Head" hot-ends are just chinese knock-offs. A proper J-Head has 5 rows of vents instead of 4. Proper J-Heads are built as per the specifications on . PEEK works great up to 248 degrees. However, due to thermistor tolerances, 240 degrees is recommended. New J-Head desiby reifsnyderb - Prusa i3 and variants

Folger Tech is not selling genuine J-Head hot-ends. In fact, most J-Heads are cheap knock-offs made in China. Where did you get the J-Head hot-end? Is it a genuine J-Head or a chinese knock-off?by reifsnyderb - Smart_Rap
There is no such thing as an all-metal J-head. True J-Head hot-ends are made with high-performance plastics and have brass nozzles. Anything else is a cheap knock-off that is just stealing the name. Hello, I am Brian Reifsnyder, the inventor of the J-Head hotend. Makerbot never used the J-Head. The chinese made many different cheap knock-offs of the J-head hot-end and spammed it all over the place. As a result, I stopped any serious innovation as I absolutely refuse to be china's unpaid reasearch and development department for J-Head hot-ends. Most "J-Heads" are now the cheap knock-offsby reifsnyderb - General
A 3D Cam Metal J-Head??????? Genuine J-Head hotends are not all metal. Supporting the chinese who make these cheap knock-offs is driving the originators out of business. Do you want to have a future with new products or only chinese garbage that doesn't always work? You decide. Best Regards, Brianby reifsnyderb - Plastic Extruder Working Group
Hello, There is no such thing as an all-metal J-head. If I were to come up with an all-metal hot-end, it would have a different name as there is no way to have an all-metal hot-end that looks remotely close to a J-Head. A True J-Head is made to the blueprint and is made out of metal and high-temperature plastics. Best Regards, Brianby reifsnyderb - General
Hello, Thanks for all the support! Patents have a big problem, in my opinion. The issue is that unless you have a dedicated lawyer, who is paid to pursue any patent or copyright infringements, it is a losing battle for the "little guy". Personally, I think of patents as being a tool for big corporations and not much more. When it comes to J-Head hot-ends, I have resisted releasing a new, aby reifsnyderb - General
