3D Scanner

Penn State RUG has an Optix 400 3D scanner with both the "H" and "M" head options. It is tied to one computer, in 305 Hammond, with scanning and rendering software. The 3D scanner is currently up and working. Scans are being completed to test capabilities and ability to convert and manipulate using Solidworks. The goal is to scan parts, process the point data, and recreate using one of several Rep Rap machines.

Projects

A large part has been scanned, Smaller parts are in the works. Over the summer and into next semester (Fall 2011), as students become more familiar with the machine, new items will be scanned and hopefully replicated using the 3D printers available.
