Belt splitter jig

The belt splitter jig is needed to cut down wide belts. Mendel uses 5 mm wide belts, and stock belts usually come in either 10 mm or 15 mm widths.

The two RP part files (see BOM below) for the belt splitter can be found in the cartesian bot files.

The directions below are for the 15 mm belt splitter - this splits a 5 mm wide length from a 15 mm wide belt. The accompanying spacer is used to split the remaining 10 mm wide belt in half.

Assembly

BLADE WARNING: Use leather gloves or be prepared to loose fingers.

This is what it should look like, though the belt as been omitted for clarity ;-)

Operation

BLADE WARNING: Use leather gloves or be prepared to loose fingers.

Assemble with the belt in place. Tighten bolts. Work the blade into the belt.

Insert blade fully. Pull belt through.
