Description

At this page we will describe, how all the machined parts will have to look like.

All of this can be done on Cartesio itself !

All parts are licensed under the Attribution - Non-Commercial - Creative Commons license.

Parts List

What we will be using now is :

Qnty device Vendor
1 strut profile 20x40mm MaukCC
2 strut profile 20x20mm MaukCC
2 TR12x3 spindle MaukCC
2 T2,5 48teeth Pulley MaukCC
3 T2,5 12teeth Pulley MaukCC
5 HTD3 24teeth Pulley MaukCC

Profiles

Let's start by cutting the aluminum strutted profiles to length.

The Bosch/Rexroth profiles are used, because their profiles can accommodate the head of a button head cap M6 screw, and they are cheap.

These profiles are generally shipped in lengths of 3m, and the machine is designed in such a way, that almost all of the material is used.

Cut them like this :

20x40 profile is cut to 1x 256mm 6x 260mm 2x 570mm

20x20 profile is cut to 3x 90mm 3x 200mm 1x 260mm 2x 280mm 1x 296mm 2x 360mm

20x20 profile is cut to 1x 200mm 1x 296mm 2x 340mm 4x 440mm

Next thing to do is drilling holes.

See the appropriate files for the exact places.

And finally tap M6 threads into the top sides of these profiles:

2 sides of all the 20x40x256mm

2 sides of all the 20x40x260mm

1 side of all the 20x20x90mm

2 sides of all the 20x20x200mm

2 sides of the 20x20x260mm

2 sides of all the 20x20x280mm

2 sides of all the 20x20x360mm

2 sides of all the 20x20x440mm

and in the holes for the level feet of the 20x40x570mm profile

Spindles

Next we will be cutting the spindles to length. These spindles are generally shipped in lengths of 1m, and the machine is designed in such a way, that almost all of the material is used.

Cut them like this :

1m spindle: 1x 186mm 1x 288.5mm 1x 428mm

1m spindle(be precise with this one!!): 3x 186mm 1x 428mm

And then we will lathe and mill the spindles as specs in the files at http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:10996.

All spindles have the same beginning, and the same end.

Pulleys

See corresponding files for measurements at http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:10996

Note that the hole in the pulleys that go on the motors, must correspond to the shaft diameter of "your" motor (i.g. 5, 6.35, 8, 10).

When using a stepper with a shaft diameter of 10mm, the transmission from shaft to pulley will have to be re-worked.
