easy electronics

Overview

The RepRap easy electronics is a powerful printer electronics for 2 Extruders, heated printbed and many more in one single board. Developed for people who want to spend their time for designing & printing and not for configuring several addon PCBs with the risk that nothing fits together either electrically or mechanically. Curious about it? Read on...

The RepRap easy electronics is suitable for beginners up to enthusiast reprappers. You can start with single extruder 3D-printer and later extend it to a high-end dual Extruder 3D-printer with heated bed etc., this electronics grows with your printer.

The electronics features

  • Operates from a single 12..24V DC supply
  • On board protection fuses for Hotends and Heatbed
  • 5 (replaceable) stepper controllers supporting 1/1 step .. 1/16 step
  • Automatically controlled stepper driver cooling-fan output
  • Dual extruder
  • Heated printbed
  • Hotend fan control
  • USB interface
  • Stand alone printing from micro-SD card
  • 128x64 dots graphic LCD display (depends on version, all versions are upgradable)
  • User menu navigation with click wheel

The electronics basic functionality is Sanguinololu compatible. It works with most of the printer firmwares. For the graphical user interface and click wheel user menu ErikZalm's Marlin is necessary it has built-in native support for the RepRap easy electronics.

Cabling

The connectors to the printer hardware are grouped by functions. This means all necessary connections to the Extruder are grouped together on the easy electronics pcb. So there is no need for searching. Extruder motor pinheader, Extruder thermistor input, Extruder heater output are grouped side by side. The same for the axis Motors and endstop connectors all are organized in groups, so for example the x-endstop connector is next to the x-motor connector and nowhere else. The status of all outputs (hotend, hotbed ....) is visualized by LEDs on the PCB.

Power Supply Requirements

The easy electronics needs only one supply voltage for it. It can be operated from any voltage between 12V..24V. There is no jumper chaos for the supply-options like on other boards where depending on which supply voltage it is operated up to 5 selections must be made before the power supply can be connected. No jumpers means also fewer errors/damage during the setup of the printer. The electronics is fused by standard fuses that you know from your car, easy replaceable and cheap.

Bootloader

The easy electronics has an arduino-compatible built-in bootloader. Modify your printers firmware inside the arduino framework and upload it by simply using the arduino tools via USB.

Micro SD-Card Socket

Simply load your gcode file on a micro-SD card. Select it via the graphical user interface and start to print. There is no need for a host computer.
