Lost PLA casting is process which allows you to create metal parts using 3D printed PLA parts as a based for a mould. The process is based on lost wax casting:
- A shape is modelled in a material that melts at a low temperature
- A mould is made from a material that can be used to cast high temperature materials e.g metals
- The shape made of the low temperature material is melted out of the mould
- The mould is filled with molten metal or other material
