This page is for information about the PSU Unit Black, built by group members Dan Sauber, Terry Zhang and Alex P. This unit is of the Mendel/Prusia hybrid variety. All of the printed parts were printed by other units in our group. During the Fall 2012 semester, PSU Unit Black was transferred to Penn State's Material Science Department to explore alternative materials, in particular, ceramic-impregnated polymers.

Build Progress

This section includes the progress the build team has made on the black printer. Final Update

Things that still need to be done:

1. Finish assembling the extruder

2. Finish assembling the x-axis and z-axis

2. Solder the thermocouple junction onto the electronics board

3. Connect all wires to the electronics board

4. Organize the wires so they will not be in the way while printing

5. Test. This printer has not been connected to a computer yet

PSU Unit Black - Current Condition

As of 9/15/11. Basic RepRap framing structure assembled.
As of 9/29/11. All axes assembled, 2/3 of the motors are mounted. The extruder is about 60% assembled. Electronic components to be attached soon.
As of 10/20/11. All components (including Electrical) are attached, now calibration is taking place for appropriately functioning components.
As of 11/8/11. RepRap is completed and has been tweaked. It is now printing out parts.
As of 11/15/11. Now upgraded with maximized bed.
As of 12/8/11. RepRap now has Quick Adjusting Print Bed.
Spring 2012
As of 4/27/2013. Only y-axis and the triangle frame are done. X-axis is partially finished but still needs some adjustment.
