Notes on updating the page...

I've tried to stick to the following ideas when moving this page to a table. They're just suggestions, but I personally think that they're useful.

  1. Keep it brief. No need to get long-winded.
  2. Have a section for each type of material (eg: If paste or powder becomes a reality, it'll end up here), and use sub-sections for a high order criteria for the material (eg: filament diameter).

Note: If we need a new column some day (eg: 'Only ships to' which lists where they will ship - like McMaster who only ship to the US) just add it. Cefiar

Hey Cefiar,
Noticed your work on this page and figured I'd add some sortability to it. Thanks for helping out! --TheOtherRob 07:24, 24 March 2010 (UTC)

the following have been removed due to no link to a website or are completely irrelevant links or don't actually sell filament - thejollygrimreaper - the filament supplier portion list is complete and accurate as of 12/3/2014

Material types being deleted as "advertising sh**"

See this revision in particular. While there was some commercial content in there that was deleted, most of the removals were arguably valuable information, including all references to PETT, flexible materials, PHA, wood polymer composite, and some other novelty materials. While I agree that we probably don’t need all the brand names that were on there before (for example, all of the flexible material brands that were listed like Ninjaflex, Filaflex, etc could just be labeled as TPU instead), that information should probably still be there if this listing is going to be useful/relevant at all. However, in some cases where a material only exists in one brand, it seems perfectly reasonable to me to refer to it by brand; e.g. Taulman T-Glase (there is no similar material sold under any other brand AFAIK). Maybe there need to be clear and concise guidelines on how to label these materials? --Dalep (talk) 13:32, 21 July 2014 (PDT)

This wiki is neither a marketplace nor a link lister. The fact that such pages exist at all is solely a convenience for makers and developers. If you think PETT is a worthwhile material, you're welcome to craft a wiki page describing it (by clicking on the red link). Vendor-independent, please. Thanks. --Traumflug (talk) 02:40, 22 July 2014 (PDT)
