The discussion page is really useful for things like:

• Notes about the wiki page itself that don't make sense to put on it (eg: This is why I changed the layout of this page. If you edit it, please keep this style. We may need to break up this table to make it more readable. And so on..)
• Pointing out errors in a page that aren't simple to fix like a typo, and that would require a large re-write. (eg: Despite what this page says, this circumstance does not match up with the physics, and it just doesn't work).
• Requests for comment (eg: Does the page make sense? Should I explain this section more? Do I need to provide pictures to make this understandable?)

These are of course all really forms of chat and discussion, but they're also useful ideas to avoid just using these pages as a glorified message system. --Cefiar 02:10, 5 April 2010 (UTC)
