welcome

Dear Jonathan Raines,

Welcome to RepRap.

Thank you for making the RepRap wiki a better place.

In particular, Holliger and its "wedge-together printed frame system" look like they have a lot of potential.

Again, welcome.

When assembling my RepRap, I spent a lot of time hunting down bolts with the right length and diameter, clearing out holes so the bolts would fit, etc.

The "wedge-together printed frame system" looks like it could eliminate a lot of those bolts, saving everyone a lot of time.

How does that system work? How can I design new parts that fit together like that? How do I avoid producing a mountain of scrap from trial-and-error experiments? Is there maybe a link you could give me to a book or website that explains wedging-together in excruciating detail?

I bet there's a lot of subtle details that are not obvious from simply looking at the parts you made, in the same way that there's a lot of subtle details in a living hinge or gear design that are not immediately obvious.

Again, thank you for making the wiki better -- I think a wiki that at least mentions such alternative techniques, even if it has a few little gaps that raise curiosity and questions like this, is a lot better than a wiki that doesn't even mention such alternatives. --DavidCary (talk) 11:48, 9 May 2014 (PDT)
