Would there be opposition to making martial arts training tools? These may be considered weapons in one sense, though they are not designed to be dangerous, but to safely aide in the learning of a martial art. 75.14.213.108 10:01, 22 October 2008 (UTC)

Letter opener

I fully appreciate the point about weapons but would a simple plastic letter opener fall in to that category? Or is this wandering in to a grey area best avoided?

  • A letter opener would probably fall under dual use the same as a kitchen knife: You can cut your ingredients/letters, or hurt people. In general, you should use common sense and consult your local laws before producing anything remotely dangerous. Also, the material properties largely determine the safety of any tools produced, e.g. it could deform and endager the user or outright break. SarahMiller 00:24, 8 November 2011 (UTC)

General health and safety

The page currently focusses on safety while operating a rep rap. We should expand this page to include general advice and common safety warnings/regulations. E.g. what could go wrong when machining threaded rod/metal? (white hot shrapnel chipping away at high velocities) Working on the Power Supply? (high voltages) And so on. Maybe have serveral subsections for assembly, operation, metalworking, soldering, e.t.c.? SarahMiller 00:24, 8 November 2011 (UTC)

Removal of handgun test paragraph

This paragraph is quite off-topic in a page about health and safety, as it resort to what could be produced by a printer and not at all to user/builder health and safety. So, if no comment, I will remove this paragraph within 3 month. PRZ (talk) 05:31, 11 April 2016 (PDT)
