Talk:Mendel assembly data sheet

Isn't it time this sheet was updated to represent the range of products that are available now under the Mendel banner?

What with Laser Cut Acrylic and Plywood, Aluminum, and even bandsaw-cut wooden versions, 4-6 separate branches on the electronics, Different sizes, and different Z axis changes, Bushings and bearings, New developers, are getting snowed under finding the best support locations for their own selected version or remix or whatever.

I recently got handed the "Wooden Mendel" design, by someone who thought they were being helpful while I was building TechZones Plywood Mendel. The Laser-cut mendel page, hardly pays even lip-service to it, and TechZones page is as yet under-developed. A central spread-sheet like this, needs a serious attempt at updating from time to time, as even more different types of mendels are created during the prototype stage.

At some point you are going to have a "Family" of Mendel products, each with their own particular best use, or stage in the "Replication" process, and no way to tell as a customer what the differences are, unless you update the spreadsheet to incorporate more than one, or create similar spreadsheets for each.

My $0.02, one spreadsheet should talk just about that machine. It's full enough as it is with info just on Mendel proper. Multiple spreadsheets sounds better to me, if it's not just covered under wiki pages. - Jkeegan 18:16, 29 November 2010 (UTC)

Perhaps this spreadsheet could be put in Google Docs instead? Or some other online spreadsheet? Makes it easier to read, and easier to edit without overwriting others' changes. - Ketil 23:18, 10 February 2011 (UTC)

What does RP mean in the spreadsheet? It's mentioned all over the place. Not very user friendly to bring in a short.--JeppeIbsen 11:02, 23 April 2011 (UTC) It refers to printed parts (Reprap'ed Part) that you either need to print on another 3D printer, or obtain from someone else who has a 3D printer. - Jkeegan 12:44, 23 April 2011 (UTC)
