Marto (15/1/10): I am wanted to ask you a few things about your huxley build. Firstly did you have to perform a firmware upgrade with the replacement part you received? I also wanted to know if you had any high res pictures of your build. I am still unsure about how to put a few bits together particularly the Z-axis. Where did you place the opto switches and how is the electronics wired up?

I am sure most of these answers probably exist somewhere on the wiki but if you could point me in the right direction that would be great.

FACM: I did get the replacement part, and it says that a firmware update is required. I haven't gotten to that point yet, working on assembly first. I have some pictures of pieces in the build, but I haven't yet finished it, as I'm missing 2 rods I need to finish the build. For the Z axis, most of it's already in place earlier on the X axis, and the 2 bits that go on the top holder are pretty obvious. Finally, I haven't gotten to the opto switches or electronics yet, since those aren't officially documented and I'd hate to guess wrong on one of the more expensive components.

Marto: Thanks for the info. Yeh I was more thinking about specifics for the Z axis in like how many nuts I should be using to space down the rods and what was the best way to put it all together. I worked it out pretty much and I think they seem to be catching up on the documentation a bit. Sorta hard to put together particularly the electronics. Even a solidworks assembly would be enough for most people I think, as if you are building it you probably have some skill its just a pain in the ass when you do something blindly and have to pull it all apart. I am working on flashing the new firmware now but having a few issues. Will keep you up to date if your interested. Might be worth starting a thread in the forum other than For Sale one. Prolly update here if you do.
