Full metal hotend developed with help of Polish RepRap community, academic communities and foundation Fablab Trojmiasto. Project is developed and published on Creative Commons 3.0 CC BY-SA 3.0 license. Source files are at Github service. Lama3D hotend is made of aluminum, stainless steel and brass. It prints using materials such as PLA, ABS, PVC, HIPS.
Hotend is sold in kits in which are metal parts and cooling fan with plastic mounting. Lama3D is printing with 0.5mm nozzle as default. Aluminum heatsink has j-head collar which is compatible with j-plate mounting plates.
Project is a result of research and parallel development with E3Dv5 hotend, BCN fullmetal hotend, Hexagon hotend, Pico hotend. First tests of concept hotend were made in September 2013 with parts from hotends from company 3Dlabtec and u-design. Aim of research was to create hotend without any compromises with efficient cooling and strict hot and cold regions.
