I've been working playing in the 3D arena on and off (mostly off, until recently) since 2015 when I had the misfortune to invest in the "ElecFreaks" printer kit on IndieGoGo. The thing had an incredibly hard-to-adjust 3-point (plastic!) build plate (non-heated, obviously), and i had rather limited success with it. The company still exists but only focuses on educational kits; there's not a single mention of the defunct 3d printer on their web site.

Actually, even before that, I started on a Mendel DIY project, but had to abandon it for various reasons. I've since built and sold a Creality Ender 3 Pro, bought a Sovol SV06 Plus which is currently for sale but only for local delivery in the Toronto area, and have an "Original Prusa" MK4 on order. After that's up and running, I plan to rip the ElecFreaks printer apart and use some of the parts to build a Tantillus_R printer or some other portable for demo purposes as I don't want to haul the Mark4 around to shows. I also maintain my own 3d information web page.

I'm known in parts of the IT community for my books on Java and related topics.

Besides being an early adopter of electric 3D printers, I'm an early (2018) adopter of electric cars.
