Hi,

I am a living in india... I am fairly new to the 3D printing scene.. But was just wondering if it was best to buy a mendel or just acquire parts locally and build up stuff... as this is my first foray into 3D printing could any one tell me the tools required to build one and that could be used later... I see that we might need some good electronic stuff like soldering, SMD reflow pad and other stuff...

Apart form all this i still think i have to import the plastic parts(I have no means of getting a 3D model printed) from the supplier so why not take the whole kit...

Thanking you

Rajesh Medampudi....

Welcome Rajesh!

You really need to get your RP Parts from someone that has a 3d printer, it doesn't look like there are any in India acording to the RepRap and Makerbot blog.

What's your budget? Is $400 too much $600, $900, $1100?

What is your technical ability, can you soldier, what tools do you have already?

As far as the RP Parts I could get them to you shipped for $150 shipped to India (That would be a metric prusa set with a wades extruder).

We have 2 very healthy electronics in the Ramps by Ultimachine and the Gen6 by Mendel Parts

Extruders can be got from Makergear, MendelParts, & Ultimachine.

The rest you should be able to pick up local.
