PEEK support blocks - why 10mm?

Hi to all,
Any ideas on why 10mm is the standard? Does PEEK lose rigidity at extruding temperature? has anyone used an 8mm thick support and had trouble? I'm asking as PEEK seems like a very sturdy material...
Thanks,
Raj

I tested 5/16" (7.93mm) unfilled PEEK and it worked fine, I think 10mm is a standard sheet thickness.
I'm running my heater block at 250oC and have no issues after 3000+hrs
