2 More Problems
January 28, 2013 06:56AM
Well my printer is finally pretty well tuned [yay!], nut I have two small quality issues:

1. Tiny Blobs on Walls
I get these tiny blobs of plastic in layers, not sure why, but how do I get rid of them?
2. Support Material
I know this isn't really a quality issue, but I want some other opinions an how do do it. I use slic3r rectilinear at 2mm [PLA] and It works, but leaves a messy bottom surface. Any one have better configs/methods of removal?

Often times the blobs are a result of too much plastic being laid down and as the excess builds up it has to go somewhere and produces little "pimples" all over your print. The root cause of which could be a couple of things:

E-Steps - make sure you have truly dialed in your extruder step rate.
Slicr - I've heard (cannot confirm) that some versions of Slic3r introduced incorrect extruder feedrates into GCode which manifest itself as "blobs".

I know these are kind of vague but might be good starting points.

I've had that problem with Slicr. I was getting nozzle ooze between position jumps. I've had better results with KISSlicer. KISSlicers support material is fairly easy to remove when dialed in.
