It takes its theme from the study at Michigan Technological University that says 3D printers will save you money in the long run. While there is some good background, the reality is that given the current market such savings are based on theory and not practice. And that is covered in the article. It's not about guns and it's pretty balanced giving s couple of opinions on where 3D printing is today for the mainstream.
