My first reprap, homemade

Hi

I'm going to attempt to build my own reprap machine, 99% metal
I've never owned, seen or used a 3d printer, so I cant print any parts but i do have a CNC mill and manual lathe to help
I was going to build a gantry CNC wood router but that project kinda died
So my reprap machine will look kinda like a mendel90
Ill post some pics soon of what's been done

Did you consider just mounting an extruder on your mill in place of the spindle?

Yes, I thought about that but the mill is also mostly custom and runs on a linux PC. I also have not idea how to run/control the extruder, heaters etc. I'm very sure I'll have to get some electronics for it anyway. I also already have 95% of the hardware anyway to make another machine
Considering all that, after I buy the parts I'll need to buy anyway about the only thing missing would be a power supply and some stepper drivers. Now that I think about it, I have a dodgy PS I made and some gecko drivers, ehh guess I'll see
Bonus is the machine will definitely cut wood and should also probably be able to cut aluminium
