The simplest way to build your own is to research the different types, find the wiki page of build instructions, and source all your needed parts from the build instructions. Barring all that, just order a kit or whole printer from someone who's lead time with shipping is less than your deadline.
If you are very smart and think you can just jump right into 3d printing, good luck to you. I researched for about to understand all I can before building my first and I still ran into problems(Hint: beware of "cheaper" parts).
