3d printer with assembly of printhead, extruder etc. actuated by wire instead of cogwheels, delta arms?

My newbie question after seeing about a dozen commercial and DIY designs and not knowing how or where to search best:
Is there a 3d printer with the assembly of printhead, extruder etc. actuated by wire? Or are cogwheels/cograils/belts and arms as with the delta devices the nonplus?

Do you mean a cable drive system like used on the Tantillus. You might want to look at the catagory "Drive Trains" for examples of other methods of movement.
