I see a huge market here. Some of the kinks have to be worked out. But this is a very small addition to an exisitng printer.

Apple have patented a dual head printer, one head prints the plastic parts the other is an ink jet nozzle that colours them as they print. Of the various ideas tried so far this seems the most elegant. I wonder though what sort of ink/plastic combination they're using to get the two to work together?

There is also a paper printer which makes objects out of layers of paper which are coloured, cut and layered with adhesive.

Wish I had $3000 to spare! Lunavast -- looks like the same idea as Apple, but hacked from a standard inkjet printer. Let the patent wars begin!

I wonder what their ink is made of.
