4988 vs DVR8825 on corexy printer
June 30, 2016 03:10PM
Bin using Ramps 1.4 and was working great. Wanted to change to 32 bit and obtained Due/Radds. Was using DVR8825 with no problem. Moved everything over to the Radds. Z axis worked but no X and Y movement. Changed steps to no avail. Finally put 4988 back in and x and y started to move and adjusted just fine. With only one DVR8825 in the x and y moved diag. Seems I can't use DVR8825 on my printer. Also I can't get any temp readings and can't heat extruder or bed.
Any help?
I am using Marlin on the Ramps and Repetier on the due. Also using .9 degree steppers on the x and y.

Might have fried the steppers, it's a common problem. Keep some back ups handy, even if just for diagnosing printing problems.

The Dir orientation is good ?

Did you activate the longer pulse thing in repetier config ? the dvr8825 need it if you want to be able to go faster than 5000 (if I remember) , without the longer pulse or longer space between them, lot of thing can happen like you ask 100mm and its give you 50mm cause it missing pulse.

Plus if you on radds/due now.. why not try reprap firmware its a must on the radds and if you need to use the dvr8825 with radds/due, I have a modded .bin of 1.09r with fix for dvr8825, PM me if needed.

I dont know the core XY movement but if its like delta and is slow sometime or dont move much when doing some movement you will get into "low current zone" problem on those dvr8825 that will create circle artefac aka"tree ring" you have to set them to fast decay to help or do a diode thing.

The DRV8825 has a different placing for the potmeter . Easy enough to get confused with their orientation on the RADDS with its mirrored stepper ports.
The DRV-pots should point outwards, where the pots on the A4988 should point inwards.

Wrong insertion could cause the other problems like no temp reading etc.
