printing very large objects?

Hi,

I'm tempted to go and build a reprap or a repman. The project I would want to use it for is making a machine to dry nuts. This machine should be able to dry batches of 10kG of nuts at the time. The bowl would be a cylinder of about 50cm diameter and 40cm high. That is too big for the reprap. An option would be build a bigger reprap or make the object in pieces and glue them together. The extrusion material would be hdpe or something like that because it should be food grade.
What would be the best course of action? And has anyone experiance with large objects?
