Nanotech steppers, anyone run them in bi-polar parallel..? results???

Posted by John R
Using gen 1 electronics, i know the guide says it doesn recommend running them in the upper limits of the l298, but i like to push things a bit and wanted to know if anyone had used them wired up in parallel mode, and if so had any problems???

cheers

I've tried using the nanotech ones in parallel on the gen 2 stepper board (which also uses an L298) and it didnt work very well. they didnt step well and things just generally didnt work. i switched back to series and they worked great!

do try though and tell us how it goes! at the worst you'll fry a board. the steppers should be fine.

Don't do it on the gen 1 electronics. You may fry the motor and the L298. When wired in parallel it takes 1.7A at 4V. The gen 1 electronics would need series resistors to do that otherwise they will put about 8V across the windings which would then draw about 3A.
