Connecting the enable pins to the step pins

Just a thought that popped into my head but I am too scared to act on it because it might fry the chip.

would it be possible to turn the driver boards on and off with the same signal from the STEP pin?

does the chip have a boot/warm-up time?

My drivers are getting really hot and I'm scared.

Thanks!

I don't think that will work.

They way to keep them cool is simply to reduce the current setting. You don't need anything like the full torque on X and Y. 30% torque is plenty on my Darwin to instantly accelerate to 120mm/s. I think Z needs more torque but that has an enable IIRC.
