gen6 vs RAMPS for prusa mendel

Hello everybody,

we are planning to sell prusa mendel kits in our store. We first decided to use generation 6 electronics given that we already have some machines using it. However, it seems that arduino mega + ramps is a more versatile solution. For example, I can connect two stepper motors for z axes while I'm not sure how it is done with gen6.

What is your opinion about that? Which electronics would you chose?

thanks!

RAMPS is far more user serviceable and expandable.

With Gen6 if a stepper driver goes the easiest solution is to replace the whole board. With RAMPS you just pop in another stepper driver.
As its more expandable it gives you the option to stock more items like heated beds, SD Ramps and stepper drivers.

In my eyes the best electrical solutions at the moment are RAMPS, Gen7 and Sanguinololu.

Like with any RepRap electronics, you connect both Z steppers to one stepper driver. If possible, in a serial configuration.
