I have been running the gen 3 extruder board with a standard dc motor. When I run the extruder motor it runs fine, but then when I turn the extruder off then the motor just runs backwards constantly. I've found that when I don't have the motor (but plug LED's into the extruder controller to test the signal polarity) the signal goes like this.
[turn motor on]
[signal indicates one way power signal constantly]
[turn motor off on computer]
[signal indicates power in opposite direction for a second]
[signal turns off]
so basically, it reverses for a second, then stops. But when I have it plugged into the motor then when it reverses it just keeps going forever and doesn't stop.
I thought that I'd made a soldering mistake, so I edited the firmware so that instead of using the first channel, it used the second(ie instead of 1A and 1B it used 2A and 2B for it's signal). This gave the exact same results.
