Bridge test problems; please advise on two sfact problems:

Prusa Mendel with Wades extruder:
calibrated to 1mm wall thickness, printing with PLA.

Printing very nice bridge test - I have two major problems:

1.- Crossing the outside gap, the filament falls to the ground because of the slow outer perimeter speed setting is not overridden by the fact that the gap have no support.

2.- the 2 solid layers on top, don't get very solid. it's still a mesh, and sometimes with visible tiny holes or areas where the top layer just barely touches the outer wall.

Hi,
would you please try out the daily branch on git.

Having a slow feed will normally not let your bridge sag.

Also having the top layer not solid means that your calibration is off (I am assuming that you are printing with SFACT default values and just use the calibration module in DIMENSION)
Also During calibration do not use the cool plugin as in some prior versions it was buggy, messing up the flow.

The comment that your bridges sag and that you have sparse top layers suggests that you ahve messed up your sfacts settings

You were right.
The major *mess* was to aim for the "default"1.0mm thickness. I guess it was just to heavy.
I am also afraid the daily branch will (too often) mess up my settings if/when upgrading (?) - my current sfact is not *that* old. "11.08.11" ?

Anyway - I aimed for 0.5mm width, had to reduce extrusion a lot, but it's great now.
What confused me a lot, were the numbers going yellow, red and so on, as if sfact expected completely different numbers from what I found to be ok.

my extrusion height is 0.4 , width is 0.48 , filament packing ratio 2.3 , measured extrusion width 0.5
This produces very nice 0.5mm boxes.

Will test filled box now.

11.08 is actually quite old..

Please download the current daily version from github.

ok, I did not knew how smart i was to download daily build - I tried one, but my profile did not work well with it.

You must install from scratch and delete the previous profiles

yep did everything over again with most recent build.

now another problem - it reverses the extruder WAY too much - then the soft filament gets stuck.
-fails bridge test completely.

should I use old dimension to have any control over max reversing ?

Also- when printing the [www.thingiverse.com]
I get 11.5 mm holes, while the structure is perfect 40x40mm.
Enabling stretch did not seem to help much.

Thanks for helping

ooops - must start over .. delete profiles too ?

did you wrote that in response to one of the problems I mentioned (are you saying some of it will go away if I find daily download ?)

ahmetcemturan - first now I realize you, the main man on this project helped me - when I were about to write you to thank you... so..

Thank you, using latest version is about to give me the most beautiful, non-hanging structure yet after relatively little tweaking. Also the dimension, and measured dimension (0.6mm) is making sense with and packing density of 1.0 works well. Under carve, I am using 0.6 and 0.4 as default.

Using the daily build was definitively a good start. - I were confused by sources pointing to "stable" (old) version.

I am looking forward to the dimension test, see if hole sizes gets perfect this time.

The bridge test were almost perfect, the best I've ever seen - threads underneath were uniform and tight.

Please see the attached picture of 6 layers of the 12 and 6mm holes (from: [www.thingiverse.com])

A is between 11.74mm 11.88mm ()
B= 11.28 .... 11.52mm
C= 5.33 ... 5.71mm
The hexagon's corner-to-corner (supposed to be 12) is 11.57 .. ..11.55
I ignored small imperfections that most likely can be fixed by reducing speed. (like the loose wall).

Thanks for the nice words smiling smiley

There is a plugin called STRETCH. It makes small holes slightly bigger.
Nophead's blog has a nice writeup why they come out a bit smaller than they should.
STRETCH compensates for that...

Thanks for the info.
I've read the blog now, and it seems to me(the graph), that circles with **few** vertexes are more prone to be smalled than expected. while none on my cylinders uses less than $fn= 100 , I did not print try my own design yet (what I built the prusa mendel for) - as I need good precision before it's worth trying.

however, how can we explain the square being too small ? - is the STRECH plugin capable of fixing that ?

Another question would be: would you say the default values in the plugin are good ? (I printed the same test-piece once with and without it on older SFACT, without noticing any difference) - must try on current version.
