Kossel Delta xxl build project HELP

From where did you get your belts ? There are plenty on Amazon and eBay but nobody knows about quality. Witch is better glass reinforced or steel in it ?

I got them from amazon. Definitely don’t go with steel, the bend radius on our pulleys is too small. They’ll fatigue and break internally. Go with Glass or Kevlar reinforced. Though I couldn’t find Kevlar so I went with glass. I’m probably going to get some actual fates belts from filastruder sometime though.

Can you please double check the design. From my understanding it is for the bottom vertices. The mount plate under the bearing-holder it will fit on the top vertices ?

It’s for the top vertices. They’re the same as far as the area it needs to be. I only had the bottom models left.

I got the bearings yesterday night and fixed my printer. Thank you so much. I also print the mount-plate and the bearing-holder . The m3 screws fit perfectly. Please take a look at the attached pictures. Can you please move the corner wings inside the vertice or I don't know, somewhere else, to have the mount plate sit down on the vertices ? I'm waiting for the bearings and the belts. I got the shaft already. Thank you

Awww man, i totally spaced it, of course the extrusion is going to be there. Let me do a quick tweak for that bottom plate.

I have the all parts printed including the update mount plates. Thank you. I finally got the belts. I'm trying to change them in weekend. Did you try the Synthetic oil with PTFE ? Any difference ?

For my linear rails, I did take them apart and soak the bearing block parts in simple green. It worked well for all the parts except the balls, it ate the chrome off of them so I had to replace those. I cleaned the rails with acetone. I put them back together and used Super Lube 51004 Synthetic Oil with PTFE and they are running smooth.

For the MFL4 bearings, I took the seals off. I scrubbed the old grease out with a toothbrush and simple green. Rinsed them off with water, then alcohol. I repacked them with Super Lube 92003 Synthetic Grease with PFTE. They seem to be working well. I used that same grease on my magballs and rod ends.

This sound like a big job. As long there is a difference is worth it. What linear rails do you have ? I have them from RobotDigg. Did you replace only the balls or the bearing block ? On the MFL4 bearings did you notice any difference between the old grease and the new grease ?

I had actually ordered 5 sets of rails from RobotDigg with 2 blocks each. I had read that sometimes they have play and I wanted to be able to choose the best ones. Through swapping the blocks around between rails, I ended up with 5 that had absolutely no play. Once I had that, I kept those pairs together. I only replaced the ball in the 3 that I screwed up with Simple Green. I'd say if I had to do it again, i wouldn't have left them sitting as long as I did. I'd give it maybe an hour and then rinse and wipe them off. I think it was a good thing to do for them, they're back to running smooth, maybe even smoother.

For the MFL4, I dunno if the grease is thicker or if it's because I put way more. They move freely, but don't really continue to spin on their own if spun by hand. I don't think it's an issue. They move freely and the motors can definitely overcome what little difficulty might have been added. I'd probably not replace the grease in them, only reason I did was because I was chasing a squeak. Which I'm not sure if is still there or not. I wonder if maybe it's one of my motors.

I'm thinking to replace my linear rails but I don't think I will buy again the RobotDigg . One of my linear bearing is not working like I want . I think is Ok. I will try to clean them again with acetone and use your synthetic oil but not the way you did. Is to risky for me. Where I can find better linear rails then the ones from RobotDigg ? You just did a big job over there.

While they're working for me, I'd eventually like to replace them with genuine rails of some type. I'd probably do what digital dentist does and keep an eye out for a good set on ebay. Then design some new carriages.

I finally have time to install the new bearings on top and I did clean up the linear bearings and use the synthetic PFTE oil. You right about that PFTE synthetic oil. I think it's much better than the Lucas oil what I use. Lucas oil is very thick. Thank you

I'm curious to see the machine and if it made any difference to your prints.

I will post some pictures when I get home. I don't see any difference in the quality of the prints , but I think it's from the slicer settings . I did the extruder calibration. I did measure the extrusion and it was extruding 104/ 100mm. Now is 96/100mm. I'm still printing tests . The printer is more quiet now.

What do you think is the finnish on S3D with so many blobs ?

Are you printing from SD card or octoprint? the serial bandwidth is limited.

Try to set the resolution to at least 0,01mm.

He’s using a Duet,

I think further tuning of extrusion to get it closer to 100mm when you tell it to extrude 100mm as well as tweaking the retraction amount should take care of the later start and stop points as well as the slight stringy-ness.
