I'm looking to make some eco friendly resins for an sla printer that I'm making. I know most of the commercially available ones are filled with toxins and I'd prefer to make the resin myself. The only thing I've seen so far that seems remotely practical is a resin made with linseed oil but even that has toxic photo initiators. I was wondering if anyone had any advice or could point me in the right direction.

Welp, ecofriendliness was never the foremost topic in my mind when I searched this stuff, but I do recall some PIs used in clinical settings: if it's benevolent enough to be stuffed inside of mice and men surely it should be less dangerous to the environment. Look up some stuff in PubMed or Google Scholar, they usually go for Irgacure compounds.

Remember though: them juices ain't cheap.

The UV cured dental resins used to adhere fillings to teeth are filled with those toxic components. After polymerization they are considered biocompatible since they have passed the FDA tox tests.
