interesting forum post

this guy posted an interesting comment on the forums:

I gotta say i agree with him. i think it would be a good idea to open
up the developer forums and also categorize them a bit better. it may
be a bit premature by a few months, but we are definitely growing and
it would be nice to have the infrastructure in place.

i know that we've been using the email system for a good while now,
but the forums are definitely much easier to use and so forth. lets
mull this over for a little bit and if it still sounds like a good
idea in a couple days then make the change?

I basically agree too... and his structure sounds pretty reasonable too.

Though if Development was opened, I think we could ditch Contributors
entirely.

But as you say, I also think it's premature by a few months. Based on
other earlier discussions and decisions, I think it should coincide with
release 1.0.

It only takes a few minutes to set up new forums, so in terms of
infrastructure there is no drama.

Yes - I can certainly see that this is a very good idea long term. But
really the developers' list is - at the moment - just a way of letting
the world see the core developers' technical e-mail and of archiving
it. Also, Simon (who would have to do the reorganisation) is jolly
busy at the moment on the side issue of earning a living...
