I think that may be an old firmware prob. Try a build from the sources
in the repository. My boards all have L298Ns on, and none do that.

No, it was me. I dunno what exactly, but I rechecked and re-soldered
everything and the problem went away. Must've picked up some conductive
crud off my soldering bench, or got some cat spittle in the works...
