How to calibrate E-axis (Extruder)

Hi,

I found great video how to calibrate Z, Y and Z axis . However, I'm not able to find any guidance about Extruder calibration. It seems that extruder is not working fast enough.

Could you help me to find instructions for this?

My setup:
  • RAMPS 1.4
  • Sprinter
  • Pronterface
  • Sfact
  • Reprap Prusa Mendel
  • Wade's Geared Extruder

Now I found instrutions how to calibrate extruder: Triffid Hunter's Calibration Guide

I have done that but now I still have original problem.

Filament is sticking to Hot End Nozzle but not to the bed. What I'm doing wrong? sad smiley

Extruder temp may be too low, bed may be dirty/oily, nozzle height may be too high, heated bed temp too low.

Do you have a heated bed? What surface are you extruding on to?

without a heated bed you can extrude PLA onto blue painters masking tape. Or plywood/MDF!

ABS without a heated bed is not recommended although ABS glue might work.

with a heated bed pla on glass at 60ºC works great for me

ABS needs 120º to stick, and 120º needs tempered glass. (Regular glass will break above 100º)

so do you use blue tape with ABS too?
I'm having the same problem (ABS not sticking to heated bed)
after reading bryanandaimee's post i read the temp of my extruder with a ir gun, and it is off by about half.
the software and LCD is reading 230ºC when the ir gun is reading 120ºC
so i'm going to order new thermisistors.
also i have no thermisistor on the bed just a strait 12V connection which is bring me to 94ºC
I have a RepRap Heatbed MK1 PCB is there any way to get it's tempature up to 120ºC?

I don't think you can measure a small heating block with a pyrometer reliably. You'd measure a mix of the block and the background behind it.
