Print from SD?

Hi,

I've just finished building an Ormerod and I'm using Pronterface to try and print one of the test pieces on the SD card. I choose SD -> SD Print and choose one of the g codes in the list. However, sometimes during printing the print pauses and it says in Pronterface that it lost connection with the printer. I thought that I was printing purely from the SD card and a connection wasn't required to carry out the print.

How do I print purely from the SD card?

If you're printing from the SD card, then you shouldn't need pronterface. Pronterface will still ask for status information form the printer so that it can report on percentage done, temperatures, etc, but if the connection goes away, pronterface might complain, but the printer should keep going.

To print purely from SD without involving pronterface at all, you will need an LCD display and encoder or equivalent.
