Object below zero (Y)... what happens after slicing?
March 18, 2013 02:18AM
Hi al,

I have an object whis is exported STL (came out of BMP2STL). If I import this into OpenScad I notice that it starts approx one mm below the bed.
Unfortunately, I can not render it in OpenScad or export it again, so moving it up is not an option.

What will Slic3r do while slicing? I mean, what will Pronterface do while printing the sliced object?

Will it start t the bed, or will my extruder crusch into the glass plate ?

Advice appreciated.

Thomas

Slic3r will position it automatically so the lowest point is on the bed, which if the next section has a large over hang could end up drooping. You can also rotate and small in slic3r, so no worries there.
