Mendel with Melzi electronics but only X in one direction and hot end works

Dear Reprappers
What I was wondering is if someone could share their firmware that is working, or has a clue what is wrong?
I got no errors while uploading bootrom or firmware but when I connect in Pronterface I get a lot of echo stuff.
Fyi this setup has worked before.

Is this anything to do with Mendel90? Looks like your firmware is for an RRP Mendel, in which case this is the wrong forum.
