Z Axis homing (SOLVED)

Z Axis homing (SOLVED)
January 01, 2013 03:59PM
Hey, sorry, I'm at a complete loss here, and can not seem to figure it out.
I have 90% of the machine built... (ITS AWESOME!!) Thanks Chris!

I just can not get my head wrapped around the firmware settings for homing the Z axis.
X and Y are working properly.

Z will operate correctly, only when homing in the down direction. When I define Z_HOME_DIR from -1 to 1, the switch becomes inoperable.
When sending a M119 I get: x_min:L x_max:H y_min:L y_max:H z_min:L z_max:H
which I believe to be correct?

When I home in Prontrface with HOME_DIR set to -1, the sequence in homing is X, Y, Z.
When I home with HOME DIR set to 1, the sequence is Z, X, Y. ??

What am I missing?! LOL

If you are homing upwards (HOME DIR = 1) then the switch needs to be connected to the MAX input.

And yes it should home Z first.

Have a go with this

I have the identical setup as nophead says the pin for the Z end stop needs to be moved over 1

when plugging them in looking at the board so the 12v plugs are on your left ou would have

X
space
y
space
space
Z

This will work with the file above.

You will need to fine tune the height/hobble bolt etc etc for your own files

This will also work with the LCD display if you have that also.

Thanks guys, I got it.

Seems I don't know my MAX from my MIN sad smiley
(Thanks for the visual Stubbienz - That's what I needed)

Now to get the rest of the machine built, and software configured!

Could someone re-upload this please? It'd be a great help.
Cheers
