Up till now I have been using an old version of firmware, printing in pronterface from sd, connecting w usb and it has been working just fine. But now i have updated the firmware to 0.78c, and after that the spped settings from slicer seem to be disregarded by pronterface alltogether, it now runs at full throttle. I have searched the forum but havent come across anything similar.
AFAIR the default maximum XY speeds were increased in 0.78 and the default maximum Z speed was reduced. Perhaps you have slic3r configured to use speeds above the old maximum?
You can use the M203 command (typically in config.g) to adjust the maximum speeds.

What parameter governs the behaviour in z axis?
I can see in config.g that the value for z, is 100., do you recommend increasing this?
Should i try an earlier firmware build?
