Only guess i can make is there was not enough cooling maybe??

Another RS Ormerod Mk1 meets the world smiling smiley

Retired now but I used to make....
CNC Machined Mk1 aluminium bed support plates for the Ormerod
CNC machined X-plates and ribs for Mk1 & Mk2 Ormerods
CNC machined bed support arms for the Mk2 Ormerod.
Dual Hot-End heatsink blocks.

Dont know how to increase the cooling for that particular party, the fan is already at 100% all the time. Maybe to set the speed to reduce to 10% at that height?

Either print two of them at the same time (spaced 50mm or so apart), or add a sacrificial column the same height at a distance from the print. With more effort you could instead add a few lines of G-code before each layer change when the height is above the start of the problem section that moves the head away from the print and back again to give time for each layer to cool.

Reducing the speed does not help - in fact it usually makes it worse.

..or babysit the printer and use a high pressure air hose to help cool the pointy bit down

Hi Sardi

As others pointed out, its a cooling problem.

It would be interesting if you could test if my
new vent mod
fixes the problem?

Best regards
Tim

Thnx people.
For my first try I am inclined to try Daves first option, as I need a couple of these models anyway. If it does not help, will try next solution in line.
