Hot end not heating

Hot end not heating
January 17, 2016 04:43PM
I have just got my Ormerod 1 out of a box for the first time in a few months. It all worked well when I put it away.

Plugged everything in and all seems to be working. I have checked all the connections are in.

I can connect to the Web control, I can Home all axis and heat the bed.
But
When I try and heat the hot end it just sits there.
I have homed all axis, Clicked the heater (t1) to active and tried to select a tem but nothing. It just registers the current temp at 28.1.

Am I missing something or should I check something else?

Thanks in advance

I am using 1.0f-dc42 with web interface version 1.06.

hmm i dont remember which firmware you needed to send T0 or T1 before you could heat up the hot end.

As far as I am aware I am using the correct head - T1.
As I say it all worked well last time I had it out of the box.

Have just tried sending M104 P1 S100;
This changes the temp in the Active column but the current temp does not change and the actual head temp does not change.

and the orange led on DC42's board goes on!

If the orange LED comes on but the hot end does not heat up, I can think of these possibilities:

- A bad connection between the heater cartridge and the hot end board (check the crimp connections)
- Heater cartridge has failed and gone open circuit (check with a multimeter)
- You have a dual nozzle board, and the orange LED that comes on is for the other heater
- The hot end really is getting hot, but the thermistor you are monitoring is not the one in it.
