Hi All

I have a reprappro mendel that I would like to dismantle and use at least some of the parts to create a Smartrap
[reprappro.com]

I guess the main issue is getting smartrap firmware onto the Melzi electronics.

Does this sound doable?

I would just go buy a ramps for $40. It's worth the money in my opinion. But thats up to you

Yup! Pretty easy. I'd recommend just reconfiguring Marlin (the firmware) from scratch so that you can use the latest version. It has full support for the Melzi electronics.
